14 new Viking Cottages

The Viking Village has been built step by step through the years. Now we

have decided to build 14 viking houses. The cottages will be decorated in viking style with old fashioned beds and furniture’s, with private bathroom and space for up to five persons. They have one dbl.bed and 4 sgl. beds. also  Includes a seating area, tea/coffee facilities and a TV with satellite channels

Góðir gestir eru að koma í víkingaþorpið okkar, þetta er Svissnesk lítil lúðrasveit, Bandella di Bedano, sem á 40 ára starfsafmæli núna (sumir hafa verið með fá upphafi..!) og heldur uppá það með Íslandsferð og 7 nátta gistingu hjá okkur.Næsta sunnudagskvöld spila þau hjá okkur er flestir hafa lokið við að borða, það verður gaman að rifja upp Svissneska stemmingu en 14 ár síðan við höfum hér Svissneska daga í Fjörukránni, já tíminn líður fljótt. Þau koma 8 hingað, 7 karlar og 1 kona, alvön spilamennsku af fingrum fram, létta lúðrasveitartóna. Eru frá litlum bæ, Bedano, í suður Sviss, ítölskumælandi, einhver þýska, franska og enska er í hópnum einnig. Núverandi bæjarstjóri Bedano er einn af hópnum, (Dario Frachina).

Fjaran restaurant -  Vikings Valhalla
Fjaran restaurant - Valhalla is open daily from 18:00 – 22:30.
We also open for groups at lunch time if requested.

The house is built 1841 and is the second oldest house in town of Hafnafjörður. On the ground floor we comfortably seat 36 guests, and on the upper floor under the sloping roof, you can sit in a cozy barrel style corner and enjoy a cocktail before dinner or a dessert after dinner. Paned windows frame a breathtaking view. Also on the upper floor, we have a small and cozy room with seats for 18 guests, and is ideal for small groups who want to have some privacy.

A open doorway is between Valhalla and Fjörugarðurinn so guests can also enjoy all the Fjörugarðurinn has to offer, as well the special atmosphere of Valhalla. Valhalla is an elegant restaurant where the décor is made from a hundred years old snuff-and wine barrels. The walls downstairs are decorated with paintings directly on the walls, of Hafnarfjörður by Lukas Gucio Gordon and Æsir´s feast by Elísa Ósk Viðarsdóttir.

Cozy and a different restaurant, worth visiting again and again.

Fjörugoðinn is a special beer, made for the Viking village. It has a good tasteand goes with all kind of food, snaps and it can easily make people happy if youdrink it carefully.

Because the Fjörugoðinn tastes so good we don´t recommend those who cannothandle alcohol to drink it because you can be hooked on it and can´t stop.

The Viking Market in Hafnarfjörður is the oldest, largest and most important event of its kind in Iceland. Since 1995 Hafnarfjörður has been a playground of Vikings demonstrating through the years most aspects of Viking culture, ships, cuisine, handcraft, storytelling, archery, games, music and battle demonstrations. Many artists have come from far and wide, from Europe and America to join us in celebrating the memory of our ancestors. gerist best bæði fyrir matar- og dansleikjagesti föstudags- og laugardagskvöld.

Færeyskir dagar verða 18.-20.mars 2011.
Það verður um dýrðir á Fæeysku dögunum. Frá föstudegi til og með sunnudeginum verður boðið upp á sérstakan Færeyskan matseðil með Færeyskum söng og dansi eins og hann gerist bestur inn á Fjörunni. Hljómsveitin sem kemur að þessu sinni er ekki af verri endanum. Men in Black er skipuð starfsmönnum Atlantic Airways og er ein heitasta hljómsveitin í Færey-jum undanfarin  ár. Birgir Enni kemur til með að matreiða ofan í gesti.

Faroe days 18 March untill 20 March 2011
The chef Birgir Enni will bring with him his famous horse mussel that he dives after and prepares according to his special recipe. We will offer a  Faroese menu that Birgir has put together for us.
There is also live music with the Faroese band Man In Black.
